NORMAN-STYLE HOUSE, Glendora, CA

Situated on a 7 acre site in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, this project was inspired by French architecture in Normandy and Brittany. The house has a New Mexico travertine stone facade with a flat Gladding McBean clay tile roof. The property includes a 1:7 scale train complete with bridges, tunnel and a station.

The house is organized around a small interior courtyard, dividing the public and private parts of the house. F/S Architects is also responsible for the interiors of the house which are inspired by various periods of French architecture and include an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary furniture collected by the client. Custom plaster moulding, wood carving, iron work, and decorative paint make each space in the house a distinct experience.
